In the area

There are many beautiful gardens in the area and towards the coast.  

Our favourite is the Botanical Gardens of Haut-Bretagne, an easy drive from Le Houx.  

For cyclists there are many cycle routes - we have secure cycle parking and maps in the gites.

There are many attractive towns and cities near us.  A few we recommend:

Domfront - 15 minutes away, a pretty small city

Bagnoles-de-L'Orne - a spa town with a lovely lake, gardens, restaurants and bars

Lassey Les Chateaux - a small town with three chateaux - one in particular worth the tour

Fougeres - a larger town with a very large Chateau

Laval - worth a look in the historic centre

Vitre - another historic town in easy reach

Alencon is the capital of Orne - a nice historic city with an interesting museum

Finally, do not forget Mont-St-Michel - it is an hour by car from us so you can get there early.

Going further, as well as the beautiful Normandy countryside, within 90 minutes you are at the Normandy beaches and also the Normandy landing sites.

It is also well worth visiting Caen with its chateau, Abbeys and many other attractions.  For WWII enthusiasts do not miss the Caen Memorial - this is actually a really good and large museum focussed around WWII and also the landings.
